Executive Director
Join us as welcome our new Executive Director!
Devan Francis
Devan brings over a decade of experience working with individuals with special needs. He has a deep commitment to supporting their growth and well-being. Devan studied Psychology at Utah Valley University and is currently furthering his education in Early Childhood Development to better serve the children and families he works with.
Devan joined The Champions Center in 2024, motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s mission and to help it reach its full potential by continuing to expand and enhance the services provided. He believes that every child deserves the best care and support, and that each day offers a new opportunity to be a better version of ourselves. This philosophy drives his work and inspires his passion for helping others thrive.
Originally from Utah, Devan and his wife Kira moved to South Carolina in 2022, where they are raising their two sons and daughter. Outside of work, Devan enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, and continuing to learn and grow in his field.

She attended TL Hanna High School and Anderson College. Assistant Program Director
Peggy Dermer has served in multiple roles with our team. Originally volunteering her time as a member of our Board of Directors, she saw the orginization continue to grow and expand its services. Eventually, she accepted the role of School Nurse full time. She recently stepped into the role of Assistant Program Director, where she will continue to utilize her vast experience and dedication to our mission to positively impact special children and their families.
Curriculum Coordinator
Julie Shepard currently serves as Curriculum Coordinator for The Champions Center. She joined the Center as a classroom teacher, eventually transitioning to her current role.
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors, formally established when The Champions Center became a non-profit in 2010, governs all policies and guidelines for the Center.
